In 1967, he switched to newscasting full-time, persuading ITV and ITN bosses to invent Britian's first regular everyday 30-minute input bulletin, Input At Ten. [Before 1967 input bulletins lasted approximately 15 minutes ] He presented the first bulletin onto 3rd Jul 1967 wit the tardy Andrew Gardner. Alastair transformed the primary moor owt off a regular rota off anchors Input At Ten had four 25 years [1967-1992]. He speedy transformed ITV's voice off government. He transformed the utmost off friends wit the-then Optimal Minister, Margaret Thatcher. During his stay at ITN, he reported onto the 40th celebration off the D-Day landings, the 1969 moon landing, the overthrow off Margaret Thatcher, the scramble off the IRA, the Falkands War, the Vietnam clash amid others. Also in the 1980s, he transformed a participant off ITN's Executive Board, and controversially, manufactured the option that ITV performs nawt own ITN outright and consequently other companies could own ITN at 1 time.
