Jason Nkanga

Jason Inidara Nkanga (born May 10, 1998) is a Nigerian rapper and songwriter. His music career has been marked by his lyrical prowess.Born in Lewisham and raised in Abuja, Nkanga first became known as an artist in 2016, after releasing his single Remember you off his debut EP Beyond my Imagination. Afterwards, he released subsequent studio albums, including The Calm before the Storm (2018), The Art of Rap with Juls Delo (2018), and Redemption (2019).Nkanga has received a significant amount of media attention within music; inside Nigeria and outside Nigeria. In 2021, he was selected by Tommy Hilfiger to participate in their Pass the Mic campaign. He was also featured on BBC Music Introducing in 2021 for his single Broken.Jason Inidara Nkanga was born on May 10, 1998, in Lewisham, England. His father, Air Commodore Idongesit O. Nkanga, was a former Nigerian Air Commodore and Akwa Ibom's Governor from 1990 to 1992. His mother, Dr. Joanna M. Archibong is a Law Professor. She completed her PhD in Law in the University of Buckingham; she works as a Realtor now. Nkanga was raised in Nigeria, attending Regent School as his elementary school and Capital Science Academy as his high school in Abuja . He finished in 2015 and moved to England where he studied at the University of Sussex, this was where he met Juls Delo.Nkanga demonstrated an affinity for the arts at an early age; he started rapping at 11, and wrote poems at 15 but he stopped writing and decided to focus more on music. He was also into drawing, his mother recalled that she first took notice on Nkanga's passion to draw when he sketched on her phone although, it was a short lived hobby; she never noticed his passion for music until he was 21. Although, he started rapping at 11, Nkanga did not take it up a professionally until he turned 18. Nkanga crossed paths with producer Banx with whom he quickly formed a close friendship. The pair have both worked on numerous songs together including his hit single "Book of Legends".
